Guwahati: A sleuth from the special investigative team (SIT) of Assam Police started questioning Saradha Group chairman Sudipta Sen in Kolkata on Saturday night. The sleuth landed in Kolkata two days ago to interrogate Sen on the chit-fund scam.
The SIT has already asked its equivalent in West Bengal to hand over Sen to Assam Police as he is wanted in four cases here, comprising two in Dispur and one each in Geetanagar and Paltanbazar. Police have sealed a number of establishments belonging to Saradha across the state.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a money laundering case against Sen under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi prior announced the state government would move the CBI against some non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), comprising a few major groups, for fraud public money.
He also said that the state government is going to take severe action if any of the allegations against the minister or government officials are proven.
