The 24-year-old is the only finalist from the northeast and she will be walking the ramp with 22 others on March 24 in Mumbai.
Anannya’s father Deepak Sarmah said that “When Anannya was young; she was the winner of Miss Junior Dibrugarh. She auditioned for the Miss India contest from Shillong. Anannya was approached by someone to take part in the contest after she returned from the UK. She is an intelligent and pretty girl and as a parent, I wish her all the luck in the world.”
A beauty with brains, Anannya is passionate about conservation of wildlife. She loves writing, hiking, travelling and painting. It was the support from her parents, her older sister and her twin brother that gave her the confidence to participate in the beauty pageant.
Anannya’s father also said that “I never opposed her decision to join the competition. As a father, I would definitely like to see my children excel in their respective fields, but I will point out their flaws and help them take good decisions.”
