Assam govt observed 2013 as ‘Year of Women and Child Protection’.

Tarun gogoiConsidering rise in crime against women all over the country, Assam government on Tuesday determined to observe 2013 as the year of women and child protection.

At a press conference, CM Tarun Gogoi said that there should be change of attitude and people should be conscious of growing crime in society.

Accusing current incidents of crime against women both in New Delhi and in Assam, CM expressed satisfaction that there is ‘however a new awakening and people are more alert’.

On the development front, Gogoi said that there should be more resource mobilisation and cut in expenditure in order that the economy is constant.

Gogoi identified another major area of priority with the education department. There has been large-scale development in the department students have been sent to NASA which is an attainment for the state, he said.

The chief minister had a word of praise for the media by situations that while they tend to condemn the government they have been able to make awareness among the people.
