Presently, Flyte has a selection of over 1 lakh books, with prices starting at Rs 30, whereas about 4000 books are available for free.
The eBooks purchased on Flyte can only be read through the Flyte eBooks app, which is presently available for Android based devices only, whilst its Windows 8 version will be launched soon.
Sameer Nigam, vice president, Digital, at Flipkart.com said that “We have a growing, tech-savvy reader base that is constantly on the go – and they are looking for options to buy and read their favourite books on their mobile devices instantly. In the USA and European markets, which have been early adopters of eBooks, the market share for digital trade books is currently at 50 per cent.”
Flyte eBooks will offer Indian readers ability to directly purchase, download and read their eBooks on a mobile device. A free sample of each book is also available on the website and on the mobile app.
Flyte allows to read each eBook on able to six devices and also Sync reading location, which means reader can exit your book on a particular device and start reading from the same point in another device. One can also take notes, highlight text, search, and also add multiple bookmarks.
