Assam tea planter killed by suspected members of NDFB.

NDFBGuwahati: The owner of a tea plantation company was killed by suspected members of NDFB’s Ranjan Daimary group in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Tuesday morning.

The victim has been recognized as Adilur Rahman. SP (Sonitpur) Apurba Jibon Baruah said that “Right now, the needle of suspicion is on the anti-talks faction of NDFB. But we are yet to confirm this.”

Rahman, the owner of Mohijuli Tea Company Pvt Limited, was returning to Mahalaxmi Tea Estate after paying a visit to Tejalpati Tea estate in Sonitpur district when the incident took place.

Police said that Rahman had been concerned earlier not to take the route through Nogda Bazaar. Police are still examined if this was a case of a failed extortion bid by militants.

Sources said that “The garden administration has not informed police about any threats or demand notes.”

Daimary was arrested in Bangladesh in 2010 and has been chargesheeted as the main accused by CBI in the 2008 serial blasts in the state.
