Assam set for mutual settlement of border row with Nagaland: Gogoi.

tarun gogoiGuwahati: Assam CM Tarun Gogoi today said that he would be happy if the border row between his state and Nagaland was resolved jointly and politely.

He said that “I will be happy if the people of both sides sit together and arrive at a mutual understanding. Mutual resolution to any problem is the best solution. Our government will extend all support and cooperation to such initiatives.”

Assam has good relations with Nagaland, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh even with border problems, he noted.

Eight-member team of Assam-Nagaland Goodwill Team said that the people of Nagaland wish for solution to the long festering Assam-Nagaland border kindly and quietly outside the jurisdiction of the apex court.

The members also apprised Gogoi about the talks they have had with diverse organisations such as Asom Sahitya Sabha and All Assam Students’ Union who have also articulated their eagerness for a peaceful solution to the vexed issue once and for all.

The members pointed out that decided the dispute between Nagaland and Assam would have a great impact on the overall economic development of the entire region.
