AGP president criticized Assam CM for visiting Japan.

Prafulla Kumar MahantaGuwahati: AGP president and former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta on Monday criticized CM Tarun Gogoi for visiting Japan at a time when the state is in the grip of floods.

Mahanta said that “The chief minister is in Japan while the people of Assam are in deep trouble because of floods. This shows that Gogoi is not at all concerned about the misery of people. Today, at least 15 districts are reeling under floods and the chief minister is not present in the state to provide succour to those affected.”

He added that the government should instantly release all central government packages for flood relief.

Ex-Chief minister accused the state government of lacking in vigilance to deal with the situation when 15 districts, comprising Majuli, the centre of Vaishnavite culture, and Kaziranga were inundated in the third wave of floods.

Prior in June, the Gogoi government faced severe criticism from opposition parties for visiting the US during floods.
