RIM set to launch 4G LTE version of BlackBerry PlayBook next week.

blackberry playbookOn Thursday, Research in Motion (RIM) proclaimed that the 4G LTE version of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will go on sale in Canada next week, with broader availability later.

The tablet, which offers built-in support for cellular networks and 32GB of storage, will be available in Canada starting on August 9 from Bell, Rogers, and Telus.

David Smith, executive vice president of RIM, said in a statement that “We’re excited to bring customers the first BlackBerry PlayBook tablet with support for 4G LTE networks.”

The LTE PlayBook will have a 1.5GHz processor, a 7-inch 1024 x 600 screen, and 5-megapixel rear-facing and 3-megapixel forward-facing camera, the reports said.

According to the reports, the LTE Playbook will only be available in the 32GB size, and will have microSD expansion if you need a bit more storage to hold your data.

No pricing data is presently available for the latest version of the tablet.
