Mumbai: Salman Khan’s most awaited film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ might have received mixed response from critics, but set a box-office record of sorts by notching the highest-ever first-day collections. Kabir Khan film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ collected about Rs 32 cr, the reports said.
Ek Tha Tiger’s collections were 37.5 per cent higher on the first day than the existing record of Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath set prior this year, which clocked Rs 24 crore. Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One’s collections on Day 1 were Rs 14-15 crore.
Rafiq Ganjee, Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Yash Raj Films said that “Ek Tha Tiger has opened to a incredible response, across the globe. The film was released across 3,300 screens in India and also had one of the widest releases in the international arena hitting as many as 550 screens.”
It earned revenues of 96,663 pounds (Rs 87 lakh) in a day in the UK and A$72,617 (Rs 42.5 lakh) in Australia.
