ULFA called for Assam Bandh on April 20.

Assam bandhGuwahati: Protesting against the planned visit of PM Dr Manmohan Singh, the anti-talk faction of the banned ULFA on Tuesday called for an ‘Assam Bandh’ on April 20.

An e-mail sent by the group to the local media said on Tuesday “The ULFA has called for a day long bandh to protest against the Prime Minister’s visit on April 20.”

The Prime Minister is scheduled to launch the platinum jubilee celebration of the state assembly on that day.

Prior, the event was scheduled to be held on April 7, which was the group’s ‘raising day’ but then the Prime Minister’s visit was cancelled.

The e-mail said that “The ULFA will oppose the visit as many cadres have been eliminated by the Indian security forces in the past.”
