Guwahati: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi reacted sharply to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claim that the officers involved in the greenhouse scam were being shielded by the State Government as unjustified.
There cannot be any question of the State Government shielding the scam-tainted officers, he said.
According to a statement issued by CM’s Press Secretary Abdul Khalek, the Chief Minister has stated that the present Government in the State has been taking severe actions against corruption. The Government has instituted inquiries on different corruption cases and taken steps against those found guilty.
The greenhouse scam takes place during the rule of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). Afterwards, the BJP entered into an electoral deal with this party. Whether the BJP was ignorant of the greenhouse scam when it entered into an electoral alliance with the AGP, speculates the Chief Minister.
He also confirmed that law would take its own course in matters of the greenhouse scam, the statement added.
