Guwahati: The TADA court, Assam, released eight members of the ULFA, comprising its president Arabinda Rajkhowa, in association with the killing of Bijoy Mazindar Baruah and his two personal security officers in Sivasagar in 1990.
Baruah was shot dead in Sivasagar by mysterious miscreants and the police, after completed investigation, filed charge-sheet against eight accused.
Those named in the charge-sheet comprise Arabinda Rajkhowa, the group’s vice president Pradeep Gogoi, Jugal Kishore Mahanta, Kushal Duari, Saurav Gogoi, Binod Phukan, Chitra Dihingiya and Moni Gohain.
Advocate Bijon Mahajan emerged on behalf of Rajkhowa and Pradeep Gogoi, who along with the other 6 accused were booked under Sec 302/34 of IPC read with Sec (1) (2) (3) of TADA Act. Overall 21 witnesses were observed during the trial.
