Over 100 people died in Assam ferry capsize.

Boats overturn in AssamGuwahati: A vicious storm in Assam has caused not one although two boats to overturn on the Brahmaputra River.

In the first incident, 103 people, comprising women and children, have drowned after a ferry carrying 350 people overturned in Dhubri distirct. This is being inclined as one of the nastiest tragedies in recent times.

The accident took place on Monday evening. As many as 25 people swam to safety but concerning a 200 continue to be missing. Authorities panic that the death toll could raise more.

Alok Kumar Singh, NDRF Commandant said that “This incident occurred due to a cyclone. Almost 300 people were on the boat. Our divers will do deep diving and will save maximum number of people. We will try our best.”

In the meantime, the district administration has concerned a red alert in the area while CM Tarun Gogoi has ordered an inquiry.

In the second incident, a boat overturned at Jaleswar, following which 12 people went missing.
