High alert to thwart possible attacks by ULFA in Assam.

ULFAGuwahati: A high alert in Assam in view of the banned ULFA’s foundation day on April 7, the reports said.

Security has been tightened all over the state, mainly vulnerable ULFA conquered areas of upper Assam and lower Assam’s Dhubri district and entry and exit points of significant towns sealed, the reports said.

The police said that as per intelligence inputs, the ULFA cadres were planning to pamper in rebellious activities earlier to the foundation day to make its occurrence felt.

The group has also embarks on a huge recruitment drive and several of them are on way to the state after receiving arms training in Myanmar, the police said.

There are also reports of the ultras planning assaults on informers of police for which extra provision has been taken.

State police DGP Jayanta Narayan Choudhury has requested to the people to inform the authorities about any extortion coercion and growing resistance to the group by the common man was a positive trend.

By the way PMManmohan Singh is scheduled to visit Guwahati on April 7 to induct the platinum jubilee celebration of the state Assembly.

On the other hand, the ULFA was formed on April 7, 1989 in Ronghar in Sibsagar district of Assam.
