Mumbai: An FIR has been stuck against filmmaker Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Films for allegedly forging the letterhead of the Police Commissioner of Mumbai and sending out an invitation for the press conference of their imminent film ‘Shootout at Wadala’.
Gupta sent out invitations to media houses in a letter which look like a letterhead from the office of the Police Commissioner.
But, the Versova police did not take gently to the filmmaker’s antics and filed an FIR against Gupta. A case has been registered under Section 467, 468, 469, 470, 471 and 420.
Sanjay Gupta said that “I am not aware of this. As far as we are concerned, it was nothing more than an innovative and creative marketing thing. It was an invitation sent only to the media and not to the public.”
According to the sources, warrant that has been issued against the filmmaker is a non-bailable one.
