Guwahati: In a foremost development which may open the lid of various high-profile corruption cases concerning public servants, the Court of Special Judge. Assam Police and the Criminal Investigation Department to file charge sheet against 255 such accused persons within 10 days, although trial sanctions against them were not obtained.
Those against whom chargesheet are be filed comprises in six IAS officers, a former APSC Chairman and 16 ACS officers.
The IAS officers comprise Alok Khera , Mahat Chandra Brahma, Ajoy Sankar Tiwary, Gayatri Baruah, and H Narzary, the reports said. A section of the accused IAS and ACS officers are still serving.
The court directed the relevant investigating officers to file the charge sheet against all the public servants in 10 days, the hearing sanction against whom have been kept on hold for over three months.
The 255 accused were indicts in 21 different cases of corruption dating back from 2007 to 2010 and the hearing sanctions from the government were expected.
The order was passed on Tuesday in view of the current order by Supreme Court of India, where the apex court had authorized the investigating agencies to file the charge sheet if the prosecution endorse is not issued within 3 months after the case is registered.
