Barcelona: The world’s No. 5 smartphone maker, Taiwan’s HTC Corp launched a series of models on Sunday, packing sophisticated cameras and music functions into latest designs in a push to recover from a swift fall from elegance in a tricky and unpredictable market.
The latest phones, unveiled at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress, are vital for HTC in its clash with Samsung Electronics and Apple Inc, a fight it was losing at the end of preceding year when its sales slumped and investors dumped its shares on anxieties it had lost its edge.
The HTC One series involves three models, the One X, One S and One V, running the newest version of Google’s Android software.
The phones trait HTC’s ImageSense camera technology that the company says offers photography on a par with usual digital cameras, comprsing fast autofocus and low-light shooting. They also have photo storage and sharing software.
The phones have quick processors for graphics and also polycarbonate or metal cases the company says that are harder and more flexible than standard ones.
Music features comprise integrating Internet radio and using audio technology from Beats Electronics, which HTC acquires preceding year, for games and music.
