Sualkuchi: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi devoted the Vastra Udyan, a children’s park and Aamar Sualkuchi, a museum like institute with same sculptural forms represents the different activities of the handlooms of the silk village Sualkuchi, to the people.
Addressing the initial meeting, the Chief Minister said that the handlooms of Sualkuchi are the pride of Assam.
The people of the village are preserving this cultural heritage. Maintenance of the handloom industry is necessary but mechanisation of the handloom is evenly essential with the changed of time, he said.
The meeting was attended Juri Sarma Bordoloi, Vice Chairman, Guwahati Development Authority, Ashish Bhutani, Commissioner, Guwahati Development Authority, Kamaleswar Goswami, Commissioner, Handloom and Textiles.
Biren Singha, the architect and sculptor of the textile garden expressed his happiness in working here and said that people get incentive in working as the people of Sualkuchi are all busy in their own works.
