SMIPL, a subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation, also unveiled Swish125, which is a ‘value packed scooter’ priced at Rs 45,431 and is targeted at the young adults of urban India. The four-stroke engine scooter will be accessible to SMIPL dealers by March.
SMIPL Vice-President, Sales and Marketing Atul Gupta, said that the Hayate, meaning ‘Fresh Breeze’, will be available in the market from April.
“During the three months time, we will work on the pricing … it will be competitively priced,” Gupta added.
He also said that the company is undertaking capacity development and strengthening its network. SMIPL will be increasing its yearly capacity from the existing 3.6 lakh units to 5.4 lakh units by 2013.
Whereas there has been a slowdown in the two-wheeler segment in the country in the current times, SMIPL expects the category to see a yearly growth of 7-8 per cent.
The company said that the Hyate is directed at the emerging Indian markets where customers want a bike for daily exchange and good mileage.
Models offered by the company, comprise Suzuki Access 125, Suzuki GS150R, Suzuki SlingShot Series and Hayabusa.
