Rahman’s Hosanna hurt the sentiments of Christians and Jews.

AR RahmanMumbai: AR Rahman made news with his latest compositions in the film ‘Ek Deewana Tha’, and the same is the case with the track ‘Hosanna’ which has been making waves in the music world.

On the other hand, a definite group from the Christian Secular Forum (CSF) in Mumbai have raised a strong objection to the use of the word ‘Hosanna’, which is a sacred term used within prayer songs. It is learnt that the word ‘Hosanna’ is a prayer in the Bible that is used by both Jews and Christians.

As in the film, the same word is used in a song and dance sequence, where a guy is proposing to his girl.

The CSF said that using the term in such a critical fashion has hurt the sentiments of Christians and Jews and so they are demanding a public apology, despite eliminating the word from the song.

The forum has further expressed their concern via e-mail to composer AR Rahman, lyricist Javed Akhtar and to those concerned at Fox Star Studio and Sony Music.

The CSF also plans to go court against Fox Star Studios and Sony Music with file a police complaint against those concerned.
