CRPF take all required steps in disputed Assam-Nagaland area.

CRPFJorhat: A day after the district administration of Golaghat instructed the CRPF, formally engaged as a neutral force along the Assam-Nagaland border, to take all required steps to control law and order in the disputed areas of the district, normally allegedly returned to the trouble-torn areas on Wednesday.

The OC of Merapani police station, Jayantajit Sinha, said that “The situation is normal in Merapani and in the other disputed areas adjacent to the border and no reports of any untoward incident have been received so far. Moreover, no Nagas were seen entering the areas during the past 24 hours.”

“Security forces have been maintaining a strict vigil along all the areas under Sector-D of the border to control any law and order problems,” he added.

On Tuesday, the Golaghat district administration instructs the CRPF to take all required steps to keep law and order in the disputed areas.

Some armed Naga persons cut down trees belonging to Assamese villagers at Kolajan area to make a road connecting Kolajan with the foothills of Merapani. This incident created tension among the locals and they required the help of the local administration.
