New Delhi: Bajaj Auto, a listed two-wheeler and three-wheeler company, proclaimed the launch of RE 60, an ultra-low cost car. The company alleges that the car would have a mileage of close to 40 kms per litre and will have an 800 cc engine.
The car will be launched in 2012. The engine is latest water cooled DTSi 4 (Digital Twin Spark Ignition) valve and would provide a maximum speed of 70km per hour. The car has a seating capacity of four people.
Rajiv Bajaj, MD at Bajaj Auto made the proclamation and said the engine for the car is state-of-the-art and environment friendly. It is prudently engineered, he added.
He said that “RE 60 will be produced at a three-wheeler plant in Aurangabad.”
He told to the reporters that “We have developed a four-wheel vehicle with mileage of nearly 40 km / litre. The car emits carbon dioxide of just 60 gm per km.”
Nevertheless, the car might be exported first before it is available here in India.
