Militant organizations like the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) have offered to hold talks with the government but still face resistance from anti-talks factions within them.
Gogoi told that “All of these militant organizations have their own smaller groups. Now the ULFA has one group that is negotiating. Even the Maoists have one such group. All of them smaller groups who are trying to regroup and reform their organizations, we have asked them to come forward for talks or else face the situation as per our terms.”
He added, “Now even the NDFB has one pro-talk faction, which has come forward. However, they also have a groups who are against it.”
Gogoi further hoped that peace returns to the concerned state this year.
He said that “I hope that peace returns completely in this New Year. May there be progress in all fields be it education, science or sports under our directions. May God bless us in this endeavour of ours.”
