Amazon plans to set up first ‘fulfillment center’ in India.

Fulfillment centers are huge warehouses that assist Amazon and other online retailers store lots of products, ship them and handle returns swiftly.

According to the reports, the fulfillment center is based in Mumbai, the biggest city in the country.

Amazon spent a lot previous year setting up over 10 new fulfillment centers in US. The company also lists fulfillment centers in China, Germany, Japan and the UK on its website, but presently lists in India.

Fulfillment centers cost lots to set up, so Amazon’s efforts to begin one in India signal the company is severe about getting into the country’s $550 billion retail market.
