Two GNLA rebels killed in Meghalaya.

gunfight in MeghalayaShillong: On Sunday, two rebels of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) were killed in a gunfight in Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills, official reports said.

Additional Director General of Police Rajiv Mehta said that the battle bust out in Darimgre forests near Williamnagar, when the rebels fired at the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) commandos, who were tracking them down.

One the rebel killed was recognized as AKJ Momin, whereas the identity of other killed rebel is yet to be ascertained, Mehta said.

According to the reports, two other rebels managed to run off while police arrested Krinson N. Marak, who is accused of harbouring the GNLA rebels.

The GNLA, one of the five Garo revolutionary groups, fighting for a detach state of Garoland, has unleash a supremacy of terror in the three indigent districts of Garo Hills in western Meghalaya.
