Melbourne Cricket Club president Paul Sheahan revealed the statue by sculptor Louis Lauman as Warne, Hurley and their children perceived.
Warne said after the unveiling “That’s 300kg, so it’s pretty lifelike from when I played. Congratulations to Louis for making a very good likeness that I am proud of.”
The 42-year-old Warne made a much publicised return to cricket after a short retirement at the MCG preceding weekend in Australia’s overhaul domestic T20 competition.
Warne takes 708 wickets in 145 Tests in a excellent career that ended in 2007.
Warne also joins cricket legends like Sir Donald Bradman, Keith Miller and Dennis Lillee in having his statue rigid on the Parade of Champions outside the MCG.
