Fight for Lokpal Bill and women’s reservation issue: Sonia Gandhi.

Sonia GandhiNew Delhi: On Wednesday, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi made it very clear that she was ready for the fight ahead for a well-built anti-graft legislation.

At the Congress legislative party meeting, Gandhi confirmed that the party stands strongly by the government on the Lokpal, and that woman’s reservations were also on her agenda.

An argumentative Congress President also strikes out at the Opposition for obstructionist strategy and Team Anna for planned and spiteful criticism of the government.

Gandhi told the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) meeting that “We are being criticised and attacked for not tackling the scourge of corruption. This is deliberate and malicious misinformation.”

“I will fight for Lokpal and women’s reservation issue,” she told reporters “I cannot see any reason for us to be defeatist.”

She also said that three Bills with foremost allegations are to be passed soon, those relating to the protection of whistle blowers, enhancing legal accountability, and strengthening anti-money laundering operations and controlling bribery of Indian public officials by foreign companies.
