Miss Philippines, Gwendoline Ruais was named the runner-up, whereas Miss Puerto Rico, Amanda Perez, came 3rd in the contest, which was back in its home city to celebrate its 60th anniversary.
According to the Miss World web site, the winner of Miss World 2011 Sarcos, who currently works for a broadcasting company, said her future ambition was to work with non-governmental organisations and children.
The evening took off with a grand performance by Diversity, hyped as Britain’s most talented street dancing group, in between which the girls from 150 countries were introduced, which included India’s Kanishtha Dhankhar.
Dominican Republic was awarded Miss World 2011 Sports Champ. Miss England was Miss World 2011 Beach Beauty. Kazakhstan was Miss World 2011 Top Model, whereas Miss World 2011 Talent title went to Miss Chile, and Miss Ghana and Miss Indonesia equally shared the title of Beauty with a Purpose.
Along with the tradition, the Miss World flag was passed on to the next host country, which is the City of Ordos in Mongolia, China.
