New Delhi: In a bid to build pressure on the parliamentary standing committee, Anna Hazare has determined to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar here if the panel does not come up with strong recommendations on Lokpal Bill.
Team Anna sources today said that the 74-year-old activist will lead the protest at Jantar Mantar if the standing committee does not crop up with strong provisions in the bill, which it is looking into.
A senior Team Anna member said that “It all depends on the Standing Committee proposals. Anna is planning to sit on a protest in Jantar Mantar on December 11 depending on the Standing Committee recommendations.”
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) denied giving permission to anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare to hold a protest at Ramlila Maidan from Dec 27.
Team Anna member Manish Sisodia had said on Sunday that the MCD had given permission to hold the rally, subject to permission from the Delhi Police.
Yogender Chandolia, current standing committee chairman of the MCD said that “They have sought permission from January 1 to January 15. But the ground (Ramlila Maidan) has been already booked for three days by somebody else. We can’t cancel that. Tomorrow they may apply with changed schedule from December 27 to January 5. If they come with the NoC of Delhi Police, MCD will consider. No permission has been given to them.”
