Court rejects bail plea of Kanimozhi and other 7 accused in 2G.

KanimozhiNew Delhi: The special CBI court today dismissed the bail pleas of DMK MP Kanimozhi and other seven accused in the 2G spectrum case.

The other accused who didn’t get bail today comprise Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, ex-telecom minister A Raja’s ex-private secretary RK Chandolia, Kalaignar TV MD Sharad Kumar, directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Asif Balwa and Rajiv Agarwal and Bollywood producer Karim Morani.
The court will begin trial in the case from November 11. Further sessions judge OP Saini had on September 24 reserved his verdict on the applications.
During the arguments on bail, CBI had preferred not to oppose Kanimozhi’s application. It also renounced from advancing any arguments against Bollywood producer Karim Morani, Kalaignar TV director Shard Kumar and partner of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Asif Balwa.
It was from Asif’s company that Rs 200 crores had moved to Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd and then to Kalaignar TV. However, the CBI had opposed the bail pleas of Shahid Balwa, Chandolia and Behura.
