Jayalalithaa appear in Bangalore court today.

JayalalithaaBangalore: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa arrived in Bangalore this morning to appear in a special court in connection with the inconsistent assets case against her.

Jayalalithaa arrived by a special aircraft from Chennai and landed at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) airport. She instantly proceeded to attend the court proceedings at Parapana Agrahara on city outskirts.

Supreme Court had yesterday rejected her appeal for postponing the hearing in the case against her by a few days and asked her to emerge before the special court.

Several security arrangements have been made to ensure that the hearing passes efficiently. As part of the security measures, only those lawyers, who are concerned in the case, were allowed to enter the court while others were not let inside the premises.

The case against Jayalalithaa was first filed by Subramanian Swamy in 1996 and later chased by the DMK. In 2001, Jayalalithaa returned to power in the state and the case was transferred by the SC to Karnataka in 2003.
