Indian Army against removal of AFSPA in Kashmir.

AFSPANew Delhi: The Indian Army is against removal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Kashmir, saying that there is no let-up in penetration bids.

According to the sources, Army has taken up AFSPA concern with Cabinet Secretary, claiming that there is no let up in infiltration from across the border.

Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain said that “Deliberations on this subject are still going on. We will decide in our meeting. The issue has not come for discussion even once.”

Just a few days prior, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act and Disturbed Areas Act will be removed from some areas in Jammu and Kashmir within the next few days.
