Gujarat IPS sent to judicial custody after court rejects police remand.

Sanjeev BhattNew Delhi: Suspended Gujarat IPS Officer Sanjeev Bhatt has been sent to judicial custody after a Gujarat court on Saturday rejected the application for his police remand.

After conducting searches at suspended IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt’s house for 2nd time in 24 hours, the police had sought 7-day judicial custody of Bhatt. Bhatt was produced in court on Saturday after his arrest on Friday.

Earlier on Saturday, Bhatt’s wife Shweta Bhatt on Saturday supposed that he was under threat and was not being allowed to meet his lawyer.

Shweta Bhatt, the wife of the cop, has written a letter to the top cops and senior government officials in this regard. In the letter, Shweta pointed that her husband had been amazingly shifted to the City Crime Branch which has bad reputation of fake encounters.

She added that the branch was frankly under the control of the present Chief Minister. But, the police denied that there was any threat to Bhatt’s life.

The arrest came after one of his juniors, KD Pant, supposed that Bhatt had forced him to file a false affirmation against Modi. The affidavit had says that Bhatt was present at the February 27, 2002 meeting at which Modi had supposedly told the police to go slow on the rioters.
