Ex- Karnataka CM remanded to judicial custody till Oct 22.

BS YeddyurappaBangalore: Earlier Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa on Saturday remanded to judicial custody till October 22 after he surrendered before the Lokayukta court after the Lokayukta court rejected his bail appeal and issued arrest warrant against him.

Yeddyurappa will spend 2 nights in the Bangalore Central Jail in connection with cases regarding assumed irregularities in denotification of government lands.

Reacting to the development, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that it showed the double standard of the BJP.

Singhvi said that “A bail is denied only when court finds some case against a person. This is the CM who was reluctant to leave office and when he left, made a lot of noise.”

But, the BJP extended its full support for earlier chief minister and was confidence that Yeddyurappa will come out clean.

“The party is fully backing Yeddyurappa. Yeddyurappa is fighting a legal battle…Nothing wrong in appearing before the court. I am sure that he will come out clean, all cases will be rejected in the court,” said senior BJP leader V Dhananjayakumar.

On the other hand, Congress leader BK Hariprasad said that “This shows hypocrisy of the BJP. At a time when Advani is taking out a rath yatra against corruption, their former CM has to surrender in case of corruption. The government in Karnataka is surviving only on corruption.”

“The Congress has always taken action against its leaders against whom there are allegations of corruption,” Hariprasad added.
