Guwahati: The 315 Field Regiment (Kargil) of the Red Horns Artillery Brigade joined hands with the members of the Kharupetia Marwari Yuva Munch and assumed a plantation drive at Kharupetia in Darrang district on Sunday to strengthen their commitment towards certified a green planet for future generations.
As part of the programme, the soldiers of the Army camp, along with the social organization led by Kurum Bed, planted a diversity of trees across the Army campus at Kharupetia.
The plantation drive by the soldiers would continue at other places in Darrang and Udalguri where the unit is performed anti-militancy operations.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, an Army official said that despite performing its basic role of countering terrorism, the Red Horns Artillery Brigade has always been at the front in addressing such public plans that touch all important phases of public life.
The Kharupetia Army camp of the Red Horns Artillery Brigade, located across NH 52, commanded by Brigadier VK Tiwari, has been rendering yeoman service in providing rescue operations and medical assistance during many accidents on the national highway.
Lately, the artillery brigade has despatched a National Integration Tour including 3 teachers and 18 students to New Delhi.
