Kokrajhar: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) observed a 3 hours National Highway blockade programme demanding instant creation of separate state of Bodoland on the northern bank of the river Brahmaputra in Assam.
Hundreds of ABSU supporters led by its central and Kokrajhar district unit secretary Jiron Basumatary and Lorence Islary respectively assembled on the National Highway 31-C near Karigaon under Kokrajhar Police Station with placards, posters, banners.
Supporters of ABSU also shouted slogans during the programme which started tomorrow. Later ABSU also submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh through the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar.
During the blockade period traffic on National Highway 31-C in Kokrajhar district was poorly affected and plying of vehicles came to a halt. No any annoying incident has been reported so far.
