Guwahati: Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi announced introduction of a new train between Dimapur and Guwahati from November 15, which was announced in the last Railway Budget and declared that it would be inaugurate the Nagaland Express.
Railway Minister is escorted by a high-level delegation from the Railway Board, besides the General Manager of NF Railway Keshav Chandra and General Manager of NF Railway (Construction), Vijaya Kanth. The Railway Board delegation is headed by Vinay Mittal, ex-officio Principal Secretary to the Government of India and Chairman of the Railway Board.
Minister Trivedi told during 2 day visit to Nagaland that development of the railway infrastructure in Nagaland and other north eastern States is high on priority in his agenda and his visit is aimed solely at resolving all the issues related to rapid development of the region.
Trivedi went to the Dimapur Railway Station for examination and took stock of the developmental activities at the station which has been declared an Adarsh Station by the Railway Ministry. He met various representatives of unions, associations and bodies and received representations and memorandums.
The Railway Minister later held a meeting with Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, his Cabinet colleagues, 2 Members of Parliament from the State and other senior State Government officials at Dimapur.
