New Delhi: Strongly condemning the terror strike outside Delhi High Court, President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday stated that the country will never surrender to terrorism and asked people to unitedly war the scourge.
Condoling the loss of lives in the deadly blast that left at least 11 dead and more than 60 injured, Ms. Patil wished speedy recovery to the wounded. And Dr. Singh, who is on a two-day visit to Bangladesh, condemned the terror strike as a ‘cowardly act’.
Dr. Singh said in Dhaka “I just heard the sad news from Delhi about the bomb blast. I am told that 10 people have been killed. This is cowardly act of terrorist nature. We will deal with it. We will never succumb to the pressure of terrorism.”
He added that “This is a long war in which all political parties, all the people of India have to stand united so that the scourge of terrorism is crushed”.
BJP and Left parties asked the government to elucidate to the people whether there was any intelligence failure. BJP spokesperson Ravishankar Prasad depicted the incident as a ‘great pain, great agony and great distress.’
Rahul Gandhi had gone to the hospital soon after the blast while relatives of the victims protested saying while they were not allowed inside even as VIPs are going anywhere.
