Jagjit Singh in critical condition after operation performs at Lilavati hospital.

Jagjit Singh Mumbai: Prominent Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh was on Friday afternoon admitted in the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai.

According to reports, the singer was hurried to the hospital after he suffered a brain haemorrhage. Doctors attending to him had on Friday said that the singer was in a critical condition.

Hospital sources said that a life-saving operation was performed on Singh. His wife Chitra Singh is with him in the hospital.

Singh was supposed to perform at a concert along with renowned Pakistani Ghazal singer Ghulam Ali in Mumbai on Friday evening.

Popularly known as ‘The Ghazal King’ he gained acclaim together with his wife, another famous Indian ghazal singer Chitra Singh, in the 1970s and 1980s, as the 1st ever successful duo act (husband-wife) in the history of recorded Indian music.

His popular ghazals comprise, Meri zindagi kisi aur ki, mere naam ka koi aur hai, Apni marzi se kahan apne safar ke hum hain, Wo jo hum mein tumme qaraar tha, Patta-patta boota-boota haal hamaara jaane hai, Hoshwalo ko khabar, etc.
