Mumbai: Director Jagmohan Mundhra, famous for his films like Provoked and Bawander breathed his last in Mumbai. The director had been admitted in the hospital since a few days as allegedly he was suffering from internal bleeding. He was also scheduled to set off shooting for his next film soon.
Mundhra also directed films like Kamla, Halloween Night, Night Eyes, L.A. Goddess and Sexual Malice.
In 1979 he gave up his job in California and determined to become a full-time filmmaker. In his own words, Mundhra has frequently said that Kamla, Bawander and Provoked are his trology of strong women centric films.
Veteran actress and activist Shabana Azmi tweeted “Sad news. Filmaker Jagmohan Mundhra passed away this morning. Heartfelt condolences to his family. Jagmohan Mundhara – he was one the most subjective director. His ‘Shoot on Sight’ is a film which is identical to ‘A Wednesday’.” Others also posted condolence messages on Twitter.
