AGP fight against verdict of government in Parliament.

AGPGuwahati: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Monday announced that it is going to fight inside and outside the Parliament against the verdict of the government to hand over land of Assam to Bangladesh.

Addressing media-persons here, former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta and Rajya Sabha MP Kumar Deepak Das expressed the decision as unfortunate and said that it went against all the democratic principles.

Mahanta said that “The government has violated parliamentary democracy by deciding to hand over land without seeking the opinion of the people.”

Pointing out that barbed fencing by the State Government is not international border, Mahanta said that international border between two or more nations was a right of the concerning national government.

On the other hand, Das calling upon the people of the State to unite and oppose the land swapping decision warned that such a choice of the government will intimidate the existence of the native communities. He further said that the AGP has been in touch with the resistance parties in this connection and that they had extended their support.
