Guwahati: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) will remedy to a National Highway blockade for one hour between 11 am to 3 pm across the State today in protest against the handing over of Assam’s land to Bangladesh through a treaty.
An AASU said that ambulance service has been exempted from the purview of the bandh.
Yesterday, the AASU members staged a torchlight march in the evening in different parts of the State demanding revoke of the treaty and restore Assam’s land back to the State.
AASU said that “The Chief Minister and the Prime Minister totally betrayed the people of the State by acceding to the Bangladesh’s demand for Assam’s borderland without a whimper. The people of Assam were kept completely in the dark on the sinister move and now they will continue to oppose it tooth and nail.”
The AASU added that it would persist with its programme of preventing the machinery intended for the Lower Subansiri hydel power project from reaching the site.
