Birmingham: India made a disastrous start to the 3rd cricket Test against England and crashed to224 for all out in the first innings at lunch on the first day at Edgbaston on Wednesday. England displayed great pledge to finish the day at 84/0.
England’s fast bowlers sustained their tremendous performance with Stuart Broad and Tim Bresnan picking up two wickets each in the first session.
Virender Sehwag went for a 1st ball duck in the start off of the 2nd over to Broad, who also dismissed batting ace Sachin Tendulkar caught at 3rd slip by Jimmy Anderson.
Gautam Gambhir was bowled after he had worked hard for 38 runs by Tim Bresnan. The hefty fast bowler also picked up Rahul Dravid at the stroke of lunch with an admirable delivery that was pitched on a perfect length and moved little to strike the off-stump.
The entire array of Dhoni’s strokes brought back memories of the long-haired boy who had bluster onto the international stage almost 7 years ago. Dhoni’s 77 (96 balls) helped India post a total of 224.
