UNC called shutdown in Manipur.

UNCImphal: Normal life was smack in many areas of Manipur on Sunday due to protest demanding the creation of a Naga-dominated district in the State.

According to official reports, the United Naga Council (UNC), the apex body of Nagas in the state, called a shutdown in all Naga occupied areas in northern Manipur from Sunday, demanding that these areas should not be engraved out without their consent.

The official said that the blockades have created a shortage of crucial commodities including diesel and petrol.

Manipur’s Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution N. Biren Singh told to the reporters that the government has been trying to move essentials and fuel through trucks with security escorts.

Manipur depends on supplies from outside and trucks carrying prerequisites and other goods from the rest of India use the highways passing through Nagaland and Assam.
