New Delhi: BJP today burnt effigies of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in several areas of the city demanding her instant resignation over the CAG report accused her for supposed irregularities in some Commonwealth Games (CWG) projects.
The departments and agencies whose projects figure in the report of the CAG for any fairly irregularities, wrongdoings and procedural lapses were told strictly to be ready with the reports at the earliest.
The official reports said that “All the concerned agencies and departments were told to submit detailed replies to the allegations made in the CAG report.”
However, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh today rejected BJP’s demand for Sheila Dikshit resignation in the wake of the CAG report on Commonwealth Games.
Singh told reporters that “There is no question of resignation of Sheila Dikshit as the CAG report is not incriminating evidence against anybody. It is basically an audit body and not an investigative entity.”
The report was scheduled in Parliament on Friday after which the city unit of the BJP had also demanded registration of a CBI case against Dikshit.
Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta said that the party will also hold a rally at Ramlila Maidan on August 9 to demand her dismissal while party workers will “gherao” Parliament on August 11 to press for her removal. He also added that the effigies of the chief minister were burnt at around 30 places.
