Heavy landslides cut off NH-29 between Dimapur & Kohima.

Nagaland landslidesKohima: Heavy landslides sets off by incessant rains for the past couple of weeks in Nagaland have completely cut off NH-29 between Dimapur and Kohima, officials said today.

A house was sweep away whereas a two-wheeler and a car were buried under debris, although no casualty was reported.

Hundreds of vehicles are trapped since yesterday on both sides of the interrupted segment of the highway between Chumukedima and Jharnapani where mud escorted with boulders and trees have falls down in at least 15 places, police said.

The Border Road Organisation (BRO) officials with senior government functionaries today visited the affected areas.

The landslips upset power supply to Peren district and Medziphema area following smash up of some of the electric poles. Efforts were on to reinstate electricity supply soon.

According to the official reports, the landslips also damaged the main water supply of PHE (Public Health Engineering) department to Dimapur and Chumukedima.
