Senior DMK leader Veerapandi Arumugam surrenders before custodial interrogation.

Veerapandi Arumugam On Monday, Senior DMK leader and former minister Veerapandi Arumugam surrendered before police for 3 day custodial interrogation in connection with 2 cases of alleged land grasp wedged against him.

Earlier agriculture minister is listed as charged in 2 cases of land grabbing, one in which he supposedly expelled over 23 people from a colony in the district to take over the land and the other concerning property worth over Rs 85 crore in the area.

The second case against Arumugam and 12 others was filed under different IPC Sections including 147 those punishment for rioting besides Tamil Nadu Public Properties Damages Act 1994.

Justice G Rajasuriya gave the direction whilst passing orders on an anticipatory bail application from Arumugam on Friday.

The judge said for acquired bail, the former DMK minister should make safe 2 sureties and a bond for Rs 25,000.  Three persons were arrested on July 19, in Salem in connection with the 2 cases.
