Lokayukta’s final report on the illegal mining racket in the State create lots of suspense, and all eyes are now engrossed on Justice Santosh Hegde’s approval which could potentially be damaging for the B S Yeddyurappa government’s continuation in office.
Justice Hegde has been silent on his approval on what could be done concerning the chief minister, and the officials accused in the scam.
Four ministers, together with 3 from the mineral-rich Bellary district, have also been accused by the Lokayukta, whose findings said that the ‘huge racket’ has caused a loss of Rs 1,800 crore to the exchequer in 14 months since March 2009.
On Friday, Governor H R Bhardwaj said that he would go by the recommendations of Hegde whilst taking action, if required, against Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on the mining concern.
According to BJP sources, information has come from the high command which is of the outlook that attack on Hegde will bounce back on the party in the coming days.
