At least 16 people killed & more than 100 injured in China train accident.

China train crashTwo high-speed passenger trains have crashed in eastern China on Saturday, killing at least 16 people and more than 100 injured after 2 carriages fell off a bridge, according to the state media.

The accident takes place after the 1st train was strikes by lightning and lost power and was then banged into by another bullet train, reports said.

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao called for ‘all-out efforts’ to rescue injured passengers, the official agency said.

On other hand, Railways Minister Sheng Guangzu, who was heading to the sight from Beijing, ordered an ‘in-depth investigation’ into the accident.

This is the 1st derailment on China’s high-speed rail since 2007 when the country underway its 250 km/h bullet trains.
