Andhra Pradesh CM Konijeti Rosaiah has submitted his resignation to Gov E.S.L. Narasimhan on Wednesday. According to the reports, he was unable to bear the work-pressure as of his age.
The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) will select a new leader at an emergency meeting on Wednesday evening. The 78 years old leader had conquest as the Chief Minister on Sept 3 last year following the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter collapse.
The resignation came amongst mounting force from a section of the party leaders to perform beside party MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy in wake up of a programme telecast by the latter’s Sakshi channel not condone Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Rosaiah told to the reporters that “There is no specific reason; Because of my age and because of the situation I am not able to withstand; so I sought permission from the high command for my resignation and at last they have agreed and permitted me; I am grateful to the high command, particularly Srimati Sonia Gandhi”.
He also added that he was satisfied with his work during the prior 14 months and thanked Gandhi and all leaders and legislators of the party.
Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy; state Assembly Speaker N. Kirankumar Reddy; and state minister J. Geeta Reddy are among the frontrunners for the post of Andhra Pradesh CM subsequent K. Rosaiah’s resignation.
The expert leader gives up a day after his trip to New Delhi, where he is believed to have met Gandhi and submitted his resignation letter. On his advent to Hyderabad Tuesday night, he announced that the CLP meeting would be held Wednesday evening.
